The oscillator is based on an article "A high performance
VHF crystal oscillator circuit" by Robert Matthys, published
in RF design March 1987.
For several years the Germans seems to prefer JFET xtal
oscillators, while they are not accepted elsewhere because they
are not stable, butler emitter common-base seem popular in
England, although it seems to have some problems. Later the
butler emitter-follower was presented as a solution, but it seems
that the diode limiter is the real cure, and butler-common base
could be improved similarly.
Still the regulator noise problem solution isn't shown, it is
easy and consists of a 2N3904 with few other components.
